Jammin at Hippie Jack's

Over Memorial Day weekend this year, Zac, Maebelle, Orion, Jordie (Zac's cousin) and I went to the Jammin at Hippie Jack's music festival in Crawford, TN. It was a great time.

They had a sandbox for the kids to play in, as well as swings. The kids loved them! The play area was enclosed by a fence that had honeysuckle growing up and down it. It smelled amazing.

I think this next one is the best photo of Zac I have ever taken. I love it.

The way the honeysuckle wrapped around the wires was mesmerizing. The vines were twisted and tangled into the fence. Did I mention it smelled divine?

There was also an activity tent set up where kids could paint, hula hoop, blow bubbles, eat peanuts, mow, all kinds of stuff. It was well thought out. Zac and I got to hear the music while the kids were busy playing. Without that tent, I am not sure how much music Zac and I would have been able to hear. I am quite sure other parents are just as thankful as we are!

We woke up Sunday morning to rain. At least this time the rain stayed outside the tent. We decided to get things packed up and ready to go before we went up to listen to music. The kids were having fun running around naked, so we let them stay that way until we got in the car. Some might have said "damn dirty hippies", but almost anyone who saw them commented on how those were the days.

The kids played and danced while I took photos of the Flea Market Hustlers. They were really quite exceptional. I love their style and they played well together. It was fun to get to photograph them.

When I went back to where Zac and all were, Maebelle and Jordie were having a blast dancing and the Little Man was almost asleep in Zac's arms.

Next up was Jay Clark. He was good, too. Completely different style - a man with a guitar. But his songs were very good. He had nice stage presence.

Orion woke up and was just as happy as always.

All in all, it was a wonderful time! The kids still ask if we can go back. And we are already anxiously awaiting next year's festival!

Thanks to everyone at Jammin at Hippie Jack's for putting on such an incredible festival. It was the best festival we've ever been to!

I love your pictures--BEAUTIFUL! My family went to the festival on that Sunday. The music and venue were fantastic. We REALLY liked Jay Clark, too.

Check out Hippie's new website. www.myhippiejack.com Spread the word! The show needs to be on more PBS stations!
