Plants and Food (So basically just plants :)

I love this plant.

My mom bought it for us when we moved into this house. It is healthy and very dense right now. (Thanks to Zac. If it were left up to me, it would not look this good! {Actually it likely would not look at all - it'd be in the leaf pile...rotting} :)

In the spring, I had the idea to try a new recipe. This does not happen often. But this recipe looked so colorful and pretty in the picture I saw that I had to try it.

And I love noodles. This recipe was a new way to utilize noodles.
Colorful, noodles - win win! :)

Beautiful:

Zac helped the meal out and made some delicious rangoons.

While we were making this new meal, the kids were hard at work in the beautiful western evening light playing the Wii.

And the finished product:

And one of my favorite breakfasts EVER. Dirty Chai and a Vanilla Wheat Free Muffin from The Merc. I actually drank 1/2 the tea before taking the picture, however I love the circles and the sunny shape of the muffin in the open muffin paper. Silly, I know, but makes me happy. :)

Look at those eyes.

This must have been a while ago (I know-it was really a long while ago, maybe March) anyway, I know that because look at Orion's hair! It seems so short!

We made Seven Layer Salad for a Merc meeting that Zac had here. Those who attended all brought food and it was all delicious!

I think this salad is very pretty. And tasty, too!

Matchy matchy sky and glass.

The next few pictures were so much fun!

The kids took these of each other.

Man, I love these kids!

Flowers provided to our household by Zac, wonderful husband and father.

Flowers grown by Homer, magic flower grower. I doubt Homer knows how much I rave about his genius with flowers or realizes how often light up my life. Maybe next time I see him, I should tell him. :)

Drawings, Food, Valentine's Day

Hello again. Here are some shots from February.

One evening Orion decided to draw a picture for us. He can draw way better than I ever could. Some of the things he comes up with are really quite unbelievable. The way he interprets lines into images blows my mind. I am thankful that he seems to be naturally good at it.

This one was a moose by a lake with a tree and a person. I think the person has green hair. :)

Zac has been making some amazing Indian food lately. Above are some vegetables that we sliced for pakoras, which are basically vegetable fritters. And they are delicious! And the below onions and celery are probably for korma. I love how bright and vibrant they are. And I love that after it's all cooked, it is sooooo delicious.

But I didn't get a shot of the finished product. Hmmm...maybe next time.

Valentine's Day!

Orion decided to write his greetings in cursive.

There were so many hearts and sticker backs around afterward!

Maebelle did a wonderful job helping pick them all up, though.

Orion counting to make sure he has enough for the whole class. And his finished stack...

So, happy Valentine's Day, a little bit late! :)

Sweet Little Jonah

On April 25, 2013, my wonderful brother and his beautiful wife had their first baby. His name is Jonah Lawrence and he is super sweet.

I absolutely love the picture above with Josh holding Jonah in their home and Brandy in the background by the dining table.

Maebelle loves babies. She was soooooo excited to get to hold little Jonah. This was when he was about 3 or 4 days old. So tiny.

Orion loved holding him as well. However he was a little more cautious and timid.

For the birth of Jonah, I made them a blanket. This was my first large crochet project and I love the way it turned out. I based it off of a blanket that we received from Zac's grandma Trefz when Maebelle was only a month old.

The blanket we received has been used and used and used. It is good for summer, winter, playing, cuddling or sleeping.

Maebelle took the next two of me. We don't have many pictures of me, so it was fun to see these. :)

The nursery for Jonah is gray with a green chair. And when shopping for yarn, these colors just seemed to work together. Josh and Brandy are also huge KU Basketball fans, so the red and blue fit as well. :)

I hope Jonah and his family get as much use out of this colorful, bold blanket as we have gotten out of ours.

Here is Jonah at Josh's birthday party, I believe, where he would have been about a month old.

I love how they are gazing into each other's eyes.

::smile::   ::sigh::

Still more to come...
