Lost Wintry Treasures

This weekend I have had a need for pictures. As I browsed the past, I found these.

From January.

2013.

I love this kid.

Birthday gift art.

Art and silliness. : )

And yet another trip to Clinton Lake.

I am convinced that winter is the best time to hike.

No bugs.

 No spider webs.

No poison ivy.

None of that other stuff, yet tons of AWESOME light.

LOVE

LOVE:LOVE

I don't know how this ice turned out so colorful. The sun does some amazing things!

I like these from winter, however I am thankful that it's nice and warm and green right now!

Austin - November 2013

Back in November 2013, Zac took me to Austin for my birthday.

We enjoyed margaritas and queso while playing Kings on the Corner with Texas Rose cards as we waited for our connecting flight in Dallas.

During the small talk while checking in, Zac told the gentleman at the front desk that it was my 30th birthday. After a pause he said "Just a second" and disappeared. A few seconds later he came back with a HUGE smile on his face. As he clicked away on his computer, he told us that he was putting us in the Presidential Suite for the weekend - the best room in the hotel.

We rode the beautiful elevator up to the glorious room, the penthouse, and got ready to go out for an evening on the town. The bathroom was beautiful. Beautiful lighting, spacious stone shower, amazingly large bathtub.

When we returned from our ventures out on the town, the below spread was awaiting us on our dining room table. Delicious chocolates, fabulous wine, and a handwritten card from Dave at the front desk. Dave took care of us! : )

I loved this sitting area. The chairs have so much character, the wood of the table was full of contrast and the light hanging in between added a cool sense of closeness to the space.

This is our reflection in the wall of windows in our bedroom. It was tinted this red yellow color. And the city lights shining through seemed magical.

My lion and me. : )

When I was there, I vowed that someday I would live in the building on the right. At the top. Overlooking the river to one side and downtown below.

Now that I'm here, it doesn't seem so important. But it was fun to dream about for the weekend.

I love the next one. The clouds, the color of the water. The fact that there's movement in the water, but it's not too busy. The bridge and its reflection are beautiful.

We ate at an Indian restaurant that was suggested to us by a couple of ladies who helped us while shopping downtown. It was a food truck - G'Raj Mahal, which we were a bit suspicious of at first. But the food ended up being AMAZING!

And who doesn't love a restaurant with such a cool dragon out front. And beautiful lanterns on the table.

Our hotel was across the river from downtown, so it overlooked both the river in the foreground and downtown behind it. It made for beautiful evenings. And I only took one lens for my camera, so I couldn't get the river, but the deep blue of the darkening sky with the bright orange reflecting from the sunset pleased me.

Ahhhh, Austin. What a wonderful city you are. I would definitely go back. Even to live. Maybe one day.
